So.  I just spent half an hour looking back through the very oldest pages of my blog for one particular shot.  I never found that damn photo, but I did find a whole lot of typing.  Turns out I actually used to write on my blog!  What a brilliant idea.  Why did I ever stop?  I mean, I know why….I got crazy busy and became a mama and forgot how to speak like a normal adult human being.  All of that.

But did I really give up something I love so much just to save 17 minutes every 4 days?  (This was back when I blogged pretty regularly, too. Sigh. The old days.)  Really….I think I could make a little more effort to entertain you all here.

I guess you can consider this my comeback.  To writing.  To life.  To opinions.  To humor.  To myself.

Get ready, kiddies.  This is going to be good.  (Well, you know….once I figure out where all the keys are again.)

p.s. People have been asking for Annika photos. Tomorrow is Mr. Lezak’s first day of summer vacation.  In honor of that, we celebrated sprinkler-style today. Tomorrow we’ll celebrate again by getting fingerprinted.  Hint, hint….If you know us, you know what that means.

[If you don’t know us, you probably think it means we’ve been arrested.]

This was our first year Christmas tree chopping with the babycakes, and we have been looking forward to it for a long, LOOOOOOOooonnnngggg time.

Really, a long time.

We went out on a cold day and packed our little bean up nice and tight in the backpack for the hike out to the good trees.  We wanted a nice tall one that wasn’t too perfect.  I like a tree that looks like a tree — not one shaped and trimmed just right.  Do you guys cut your own tree?  There’s something so special about it.  We’ve done it since I was Annika’s size.  In fact, this is me, Christmas tree chopping back when I was a little scoot:

And a year or two later….

And here’s us this year, with my own little scoot. Judging by the photos of me when I was a kiddo, she should be old enough to hold the saw by….oh, next year. :)

And she’s pretty happy about it, too. :)

While I was out in New England this weekend shooting Sarah + Adam’s wedding in beautiful Windsor, Vermont, Annika and I also got to spend some time with my sister and her family. Stacey and I have gone apple picking every year since we were both just little kiddos, and Sunday was the perfect afternoon to continue with the tradition. Annika had her first hay ride (which she slept through) and chowed down on her first apple (who knew apples could be so STICKY??).

She was a little skeptical about hanging amid the enormous pumpkins, but mostly I think she was just happy to be chilling with her big cousins all weekend.
